The less Games and Learning Lab embodies a revolutionary era in education, merging state-of-the-art technology with immersive game environments to redefine the future of gaming, learning opportunities, and empowerment worldwide. This initiative is an integral part of Arizona State University's Realm 5 pursuit - fostering infinitely scalable, universally accessible, intense, and personalized learning experiences for all individuals.
Inspired by John Dewey's educational philosophy that education should be centered around learners' everyday experiences rather than imposed from the outside, the less Lab combines advanced research, global partnerships, and cutting-edge technology. This initiative will redefine the future of games and learning across borders, empowering individuals and communities globally through game-based, interactive, and scalable solutions.
Vision
The less Games and Learning Lab envisions a world where education transcs traditional barriers to unlock the full potential of digital creativity as a powerful tool for personalized learning experiences that are universally accessible. With nearly half a billion youth aged 15-30 not in school or unemployed, existing systems cannot reach them due to scalability issues and lack of personalization. The less Lab create new educational technologies, mentoring, peer-learning methods, assessment strategies for knowledge, skills, and competencies, and innovative curriculum designs.
As the vanguard of educational innovation, the less Lab will bridge the gap between playful game environments and high-intensity learning solutions. By partnering with companies, governments, and schools worldwide, it will drive research and technological advancements to develop transformative personalized learning experiences at ASU that empower learners to succeed in their careers while leading meaningful lives.
The less Network
less Network empowers youth by granting access to digital skills, tools, and content through scalable game-based learning experiences. This initiative aligns with Arizona State University's commitment to harnessing the power of game design for educational purposes, ming to enable millions of students to become creators through a global network.
